On November 21, 2020, from the space launch complex at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, SpaceX launched the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich scientific satellite into orbit using the Falcon 9 launch vehicle, which is a product of NASA’s collaboration with European colleagues.
To accomplish this task, the Sentinel-6 has a radar altimeter, an advanced microwave radiometer, radio occultation antennas (Radio Occultation Antennas), a device that measures the Doppler frequency shift of radio beacons, and a laser reflector consisting of nine precise mirrors that reflect laser beams back to origin on Earth, S-band and X-band antennas. All this will help to measure with extreme accuracy changes in ocean level, atmospheric saturation with water vapor, and much more. And for all the seriousness of the program that will be worked out, the satellite, thanks to its unusual shape, received the unofficial name «Golden House».
As for #spacex and #falcon 9, then everything went normally and normally. For the start, a new booster was used, with the number B1063. This launch was the 98th successful launch of Falcon 9 and the 100th mission in general, it is also the 22nd launch of SpaceX this year — this is a record for the space company Elon Musk, which will be broken even more, since there are several more launches in the plans. … The nearest launch is expected in the coming hours, it will be the launch of the #starlink V1 L15 mission.
